Mahogany Bay Village Team Celebrates the Holidays
The team behind Mahogany Bay Village, Curio Collection by Hilton came together this week to celebrate our accomplishments and also join in the holiday spirit of our busy December 2016.
First, our Sales & Marketing team had a fun time wrapping gifts together for the San Pedro Adopt A Bear charity event. Each year, gifts are given to hundreds of local children through this program. Amongst the 20 gifts donated and wrapped from Mahogany Bay Village were a remote control helicopter, educational games, math coloring books, shoes, and clothing.
The same week, our stellar construction crew over at Caribbean Homes & Exports enjoyed their annual Christmas barbecue on-site at the factory headquarters in Belmopan. Our sister company is responsible for building all the structures and furniture at Mahogany Bay Village and our retail store, Road to Cayo. Over 65 people attended the event, and devoured lots of delicious food including ribs, pork chops, baked beans, tortillas, and EIGHT heads of cabbage used for the coleslaw! The perfect Belizean meal — YUM! Director of Construction, Ken Grissom, congratulated the team on a very successful year, where they fulfilled over $1 million USD of building contracts for Norwegian Cruise Line and Harvest Caye, among other high profile clients.
Meanwhile at Mahogany Bay Village, Beth Clifford, Developer and CEO of both companies, along with Construction Directors Ken Grissom and Pete Davis called a team meeting at the end of the workday to thank the team for a fantastic 2016. A special shout out was given to the construction team responsible for our beautiful new 72,000 gallon saltwater pool at The Great House. The day the pool got its concrete was the most intense, requiring a 36-hour continuous pour to maintain its integrity of design. The team worked overtime and back-to-back shifts around the clock, in the face of inclement weather, and got the job done beautifully!
Clifford addressed the crowd, and announced the expansion of our family, as she discussed our partnership not only with Hilton Hotels but also with our newest partner, Coastal Living®. One of the the crew, Kendrick Pollard, then took the stage for an impromptu speech to thank our supervisors in return and had everyone in the crowd shake the hands of their fellow colleagues at each side. Afterward, everybody from construction, housekeeping, and food & beverage was sent home for the holidays with a 10+ pound ham to enjoy with their families. That's 93 hams!
Our construction teams are the backbone of both our main companies here in Belize, and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts for their hard work and incredible work ethic! We look forward to 2017 where we will open our doors as a Curio Collection by Hilton. Stay tuned to our social media to be the first to hear about our grand opening date!
